For over two decades Benjamin Karfunkel has worked as an attorney in New York and New Jersey providing high quality and personal service to his wide range of clientele. After graduating from Fordham University School of Law in 2001, Benjamin worked for Carlet, Garrison, Klein & Zaretsky, LLP, a general practice law firm in Clifton, NJ, where he gained immeasurable hands on experience from well-respected attorneys, including a former Passaic County judge and former president of the Passaic County Bar Association. Among his responsibilities were drafting/answering pleadings, taking/defending depositions, making oral arguments and trial preparation. He handled multiple landlord-tenant disputes on behalf of landlords and successfully represented collection agencies. In addition, he represented insurance companies in their defense of claims, primarily involving long-term disabilities, in Federal Courts.
In 2006, Benjamin joined Herbert New & David W. New, P.C., a firm specializing in multi-employer benefit plans, where he handled ERISA related litigation and ERISA compliance issues. Benjamin has successfully defended employment discrimination claims, claims against Taft-Hartley Funds and breach of fiduciary claims.
He expanded his practice to include defending a long-term care facility in an employment dispute, defending against Union harassment, estate administration litigation and discrimination disputes. Benjamin received appointments from the Essex County Chancery Court to represent alleged incapacitated individuals in guardianship applications. He has also negotiated leases, purchase contracts and franchise agreements for multi-million dollar companies. Benjamin has assisted in the negotiations of Collective Bargaining Agreements, familiarizing himself with Union activity, to assist in negotiating a successful agreement.
Benjamin also has a thriving real estate practice, successfully closing hundreds of deals throughout the area, in both residential, multi-family and commercial settings.
Benjamin has argued before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, Federal District Courts and State Courts. He is admitted to practice in both New Jersey and New York and admitted to their Federal courts. He prides himself on providing quality work on a timely basis with a personal touch. In addition, he utilizes his skill set to provide legal assistance to various community projects.
Benjamin has served as a past board member of the Passaic Parking Authority and officer at YBH of Passaic. He has been honored by both YBH of Passaic and the Agudah of Passaic for his dedication to the community. In his spare time, he enjoys exploring hiking trails and coaching youth sports.

Benjamin Karfunkel has conducted hundreds of real estate transactions. By working closely with his clients and their brokers, Benjamin has provided his personal touch and undivided attention to consummate deals. He has represented both sellers and purchasers in both the commercial and residential markets.
Benjamin has negotiated and drafted leases and purchase contracts. He has appeared in the Landlord-Tenant court, defended foreclosure actions and successfully defended brokers in their broker agreements.

Benjamin has defended Pension Fund policies in Federal Court and negotiated the settlement of a class action stemming from a breach of fiduciary claim from a former investment advisor.
ELDER LAW
Benjamin is proud to have been selected by the Essex County Chancery Court in his representation of alleged incapacitated individuals. He has represented long term care facilities and individuals in their guardianship applications for their loved ones.
He has also assisted clients in their estate planning. Benjamin has drafted Last Wills, Living Wills and Powers of Attorney. In addition, he has represented clients in the administration of their loved one’s estates. He has also defended actions and helped negotiate settlements among family members.
